Scales are the alphabet of music. From each kind of scale, we build melodies and harmonies which have clear feelings, colors, or flavors. Here is a link to the “emotions” each scale evokes. There are the standards that everyone uses – Major, natural Minor, Blues, and Pentatonics.
For example – The Major Scale in C is c, d, e, f, g, a, b, c (again) is described as Happy; can be majestic or sentimental when slow. The white keys on the piano. Examples: “Mary Had A Little Lamb,” “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”
